Arts Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina

From our editor

If you ask my children what they want to be when they grow up, both will emphatically answer, ‘An artist!’ I believe their enthusiasm comes from exposure to our thriving arts community.

As Pablo Picasso once said, “Art is the best possible introduction to the culture of the world.” Story Time at South Carolina Children’s Theatre, exploring The Children’s Museum and taking in Artisphere are just a few of the many experiences that have broadened my children’s view of the world and given them confidence that they, too, can make “art.”

In our second issue of artsUpstate, we’ve again curated a guide to art, music, theater and cultural events happening across the Upstate and through Western North Carolina from November-March. We hope you will use this curated guide and directory to explore the wide variety of offerings we’re so fortunate to have close by. – Claire Billingsley
